The monastery kitchen garden is framed by a wall of old bricks and a thick, green privet hedge. Beds of vegetables, herbs, summer flowers, and roses offer a feast for the eyes, nose, and mouth. Apricot, yellow, and pink predominate here in soft nuances. The queen of flowers is abundant: everything from "Charles Austin," "Leander," "Grace," to "Abraham Darby" is represented here.

The mystical courtyard garden is cool and green. Here and there, stone sculptures peek out from among the hosta leaves. Green and white, with a hint of blue, are the predominant colors, reinforcing the cool effect of this special garden room. Here also stands the house tree—the guardian of the house, friend, shade provider, and bee pasture. It contains a village of wooden birdhouses.

Open and spacious, sunny, bright, and formal, it lies there: the formal rose garden in shades of pink and gray – my masterpiece! Sixty pink-flowering fragrant roses combined with gray perennials, canopied by six white-felted rowan trees. Slightly sunken lies the heart of this space – a round knotted bed. Five meters in diameter, it forms a Celtic knot. This "knot of visions" was the culmination of a 20-year garden design project.

The purple planting surrounding the large body of water has a natural and casual feel. Lush perennials frame the pond, while plants with red leaves stand out among the grasses and reeds. Large yew cones provide structure and create focal points. Grasses sway in the breeze, dragonflies buzz in circles over the magnificent water lilies, birds bathe in the shallow marsh, and occasionally a grass snake swims through the over 300m² pond.

You'll be captivated by the fragrance of the 40 historic rose varieties as you walk along the granite path. To the right and left, blooms lushly in shades of pink, white, and purple. All the roses are heritage varieties. They exude the romantic charm of bygone times and have a captivating fragrance. It's precisely these roses that draw rose-loving visitors from near and far to my garden starting in mid-May, for then it's overwhelmingly beautiful and full of fragrance.

What a contrast to the lush rose garden: sleek and symmetrical, green and simple, the atmosphere is unpretentious. An old spherical locust tree forms the center of the room. In its shade, ferns, columbines, and spurworts compete for space and light. The right side of this room is bordered by an old building, on which the enormous rambler rose Paul's Himalayan Musk, a wisteria, and an overly vigorous clematis climb. Two ancient sandstone steps lead into the final garden room.

My white shade garden, the oldest part of the property, has its own magical aura. In the shade of a giant ash tree, a sea of hostas thrives, interspersed with white phlox, Madonna lilies, woodruff, and clematis. In the middle of this forest stands a petrol-blue pavilion. Entwined with climbing plants, woven into the greenery, mysterious, mystical, and as if it had always been there.
